Coded Asymmetric Modulation Design for Block-Fading Channels With Nonlinear Energy Harvesting

In this letter, the design of coded modulation for simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) block-fading channels is proposed, both power-splitting (PS) time-switching (TS) nonlinear energy harvesting (EH). With PS, although diversity-rate tradeoff not affected, EH requires asymmetric modulations which leads to an (IT) performance penalty. We thus circular quadrature amplitude (ACQAM) scheme that provides large gains compared conventional modulations. On other hand, we show TS negatively impacts modulation, while optimal QAM can be employed in IT phase. next derive upper bound on average word error rate (WER) based a pairwise probability analysis methods. Finally, WER simulation results are shown together with derived bounds.
